The Merisik Ceremony is a traditional Malaysian wedding custom.

The Merisik Rite of Honor

The first step in the malaysian bridal traditions is known as merisik. In order to fully request the woman’s hand in marriage, the boy’s household visits her home. This enables both families to get to know one another better. A special form of metal band called” cincin belah rotan,” which is worn to show her commitment to the relationship, may be presented to her family if she accepts the proposal.

The man’s home will wait for several months to see how the bride-to-be interacts once the merisik has been conducted. This is a significant component of the bride history because it demonstrates how the man’s home values the victim’s choice.

Eventually, the groom may travel to see his bride-to-be again. He’ll be accompanied by his friends and family’s drum-beating procession, the kompang. Additionally, they’ll become bringing bunga manggar, finger blossoms made of tinsel that represent growth and health, on bamboo poles.

The groom’s parents likely greet him when he arrives at her home. Therefore they’ll transfer him to the pelamin, a seat set in the center of the bersanding ceremony. The partners likely sit and eat their initial dinner collectively as husband and wife, where they will spend the rest of the time treated like royalty. The couple may be surrounded by their customers, who are eager to accept their gifts or pose for photos with them during this period.
